Solar flares can reach massive proportions, releasing an incredible quantity of energy and giving chance to geomagnetic storms around here. The Sun is already constantly monitored from different points, even sometimes from space. In this page, called Solar Monitor there's a constant live monitoring with flare forecast, and multiple views of the star.
It seems that the data are taken from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a federal agency that makes very helpful studies about the health of the environment, specially in the mentioned areas of its name. Also, it points to USAF in a note at the footer.
In the Sun there are complex magnetic fields, and usually they look related with solar flare prediction. Different live views even provide detailed magnetograms, making accessible to everyone the idea of studying the behavior of the Sun!
