Vehicles are one of the most important sources of noise pollution, surpassing in areas with intense traffic the 65dB barrier. This limit has been proposed as inherent to adverse health effects, hypertension, stress and other psychological adversities.

Reminding that more than 125dB produces pain and to surpass and maintain 90dB could already induce permanent hearing loss, here are a list of interrelated noises:

• Traffic city, up to normally 85dB, 90dB with trucks and even 100dB due to motorbikes or other vehicles with modified exhausts.

• Jet engine, about 120-140dB.

• Subway train, 95dB.

Specialized press mentions some legal vehicles (cars) capable of going beyond 100dB. At the same time, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) establishes a limit of 70dB for avoiding learning detriment, disturbance, stress, etc.

Specific zones near sources like airports and constant traffic need take constant precautions to avoid effects of this two options of noxious pollution: air and noise. For it, special windows and other insulation materials at the construction level. Against noise they work very well —not particularly economic though— however the isolation could not be easily maintained walking or breathing air in the street.

This is another clear reason to demand electric vehicles, since their usual noise are much lower —also with exceptions— but a road with EVs and intense traffic should be between the safe limits, where quality of life is better.
