Interrelated companies have a considerable revenue rate per year, sometimes more than information technology companies, even oil and natural resource exploitation.
The history says that Coca-Cola was founded in 1886, try selling a medicine. To add stimulants like caffeine is in fact a curious idea. Red Bull did follow the same path but making it more obvious and inherent to the product.
Coca-Cola company is according to Forbes by 2013 the number three in the world's most valuable brand list, only after Apple and Microsoft, ahead of IBM, Google, McDonalds, General Electric... etc.
It's really known that this drink and other of the same kind are responsible for marketing and then promoting plastic and aluminum containers with a single use. So use and throw it in the nearest can! No worries? Incorrect, it creates an environment impact and the necessity of using recycling methods that cost energy, resources and work.
But in terms of health, there are some aspects that everybody should consider before purchasing something different from mineral water, the perfect and most recommendable drink to the human organism that almost guarantees a life without hassles in this aspect:
First, some cola drinks are capable of deoxidizing metals, a property usually known to acids and toxic substances. If this is not enough for raising awareness, there were some experiments submerging a hard-boiled egg in cola drink and they discover that the calcium on the eggshell was dissolved in the magic mixture.
Sweet, sweet, that is another technique for trying to create more adepts like using stimulants (coffee, chocolate, tea, alcohol to cite some alternatives that were used for creating fortunes). And some companies utilize refined sugar, employing sulfur based techniques for giving it that characteristic white color. Then, with diabetes being one of the epidemic illness around the world, affecting from childhood, it's more than required to mention that some drinks of this kind include 11.1 grams per 100 ml, or even 12.9 (source Coca-Cola company) with about four grams being a habitual teaspoon. So a usual bottle with 330 ml is equal to near 40 grams.
Then you could imagine some producer adding teaspoons. One, two, three... until eight or nine. In the four or five, anyone could start to think this is not a good idea, it will bring catastrophes to the health of multiple people. That's not a secret because forces the organism to a costly response to avoid that excess in a single intake, normally in a five minute period or less. Day by day, some will pass the test while others will face health problems.
For instance Coca-Cola compares the sugar intake with orange or apple juice, but as always, they forget to mention those not interesting like different properties of the sugar. Is refined sugar the same present in natural juices coming from fruits? It also cites that the sugar intake each day must be 90 grams.
That numbers seem a joke! It means a kilogram in less than eleven days. How many people do you know that proceed with that insane volume of sugar per year? More than 30 kilograms each year? This comes from WHO:
[…] reduce sugar and saturated fats intake.
A recommendation that doesn't appear at Coca-cola webpages, nevertheless cites the WHO. Interesting!
How it be, they have versions without stimulants and sugar. And without chemicals? In a healthy diet, water seems to fit better... and do not produce waste like some soft drinks.
